Description
The number of Bursaries the University is allocated by the SSSC each year is limited and unfortunately, we are not allocated as many Bursaries as we offer places on the course.
Benefits
The overall Bursary consists of various allowances and are intended as a contribution towards the costs of study:
Tuition fees - the maximum contribution the Postgraduate Bursary Scheme is approved to pay towards course fees this academic year is £3,415. The maximum amount does not cover the full fees for the course so it is the applicants responsibility to cover the short fall. The contribution towards fees is paid directly to RGU on your (the student’s) behalf.
Means-tested grant and means-tested allowances (connected to dependants in the family). The Means-tested grant allowance is assessed using students’ unearned income;
Placement Travel Expenses: all eligible students will receive £500 towards travel during their Practice Placement.
Eligibility
- To qualify for the Bursary, applicants must be Scottish/EU citizens or must have a UK passport and have resided in Scotland for a minimum of 2 years. Any EU applicant or UK passport holder's residence should not have been specifically for educational purposes.
- EU/EEA students must have been resident prior to 31 December and have the EU Settlement Scheme status (settled or pre-settled).
- Irish students who have arrived in the UK after 01 January must be ordinarily resident in Scotland (and no part of this residence was specifically for educational purposes).
- All Bursary students MUST be resident in Scotland to undertake the course, in order to be eligible for the Bursary.

Application deadline
Students do not need to apply for the Bursary – RGU will nominate students for the Bursary.
Applicants should first apply to the PGDip/MSc Social Work at RGU
All applicants for the course will need to go through the interview process. After the interview process, RGU will make a decision as to whether to offer the applicant a place on the course and also if they will be nominated for a Bursary.
