The Brown Hudner Scholarship Foundation is managed by the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF) . The MCSF maintains the public trust earned over half a century with responsible management and fiscal transparency.
Thomas Hudner was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and became a naval aviator. Jesse Brown, the child of African-American sharecroppers, was born in Depression-era Mississippi. A racial pioneer, Jesse completed flight training and became America’s first Black naval aviator. Inspired by the true story of Jesse Brown and Tom Hudner, the Brown Hudner Navy Scholarship aims to honor Navy Sailors by providing post-secondary scholarship support to their children.

Each scholarship recipient is eligible for four paid awards, and awards do not need to be awarded in consecutive years. The scholarship application opens every year on January 1 and closes on March 1.
