Dr. Buckeye began his teaching career at Eastern Michigan University in 1968. He was a national leader in mathematics education and a leading author of K-12 materials that fostered hands-on problem solving activities.

Dr. Buckeye is most remembered for his sense of humor, his love of teaching and how much he cared about each of his students. To be awarded to a student in mathematics education.
