Description

Jeff and John Bandman in honor of Dr. Douglas Navarick, who passed away in 2022. Dr. Navarick was a Professor in the CSUF Psychology Department who placed great value on high-quality psychological research. He placed great value on high-quality psychological research, and his own research career was long and successful. He studied topics as wide-ranging as the matching law in rats to moral behavior in people. He worked with countless students over the years in his research, and this award serves as a way of continuing that legacy.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • Enrollment as a graduate student majoring in Psychology at CSU Fullerton.
  • Active involvement in psychology research.
  • Requirement: Awardees must attend the in-person Honors and Awards Banquet to receive the award.

Criteria: Selection is based on the student's contribution to a current or original research project, whether conducted independently or in collaboration with a research lab.

  • Substantial Contribution: The student's role in the research process must be clear and significant.
  • Significant Contribution to the Field: Outstanding performance in developing and conducting original research activities.
  • Thematic Weight: Extra weight will be given to research focused on learning or moral psychology.

Work Experience Section: You must attach your current student CV.

Letters of Recommendation Section: You must enter contact information for one CSUF Faculty member.

Attachments Section: Please upload a current copy of your CSUF transcripts.

Supplemental Essays - Academic Departments Section: You must upload proof of engagement with the research. This may include:

A copy of a presented conference poster; OR a short video presenting the research (5-7 minutes).

An application letter (e.g., a letter about the applicant's accomplishments in research written by the applicant) addressed to the Honors & Awards Committee.
