Description

The Ken Ravizza Memorial Scholarship in Performance Enhancement and Sports Psychology was established by family, friends, and colleagues in honor of Dr. Kenneth Ravizza on the occasion of his retirement in 2015.

Dr. Ravizza was a professor in the Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton and a pioneer in the development of applied sport psychology in the United States.

As one of the most influential practitioners in the world, Ken’s approach to performance enhancement both in sport and in life has impacted countless students as well as numerous athletes and coaches, including collegiate national champions, Olympic gold medalists, and the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs.

Eligibility

  • The purpose of the Ken Ravizza Scholarship in Performance Enhancement and Sport Psychology is to support a promising student admitted to the graduate degree program in Kinesiology with interests in the mental game in sport.
  • Specifically, it aims to recognize a deserving graduate student with academic and career interests in Applied Sport and Performance Psychology.
  • The Scholarship will also fund an annual event naming the student selected for this honor and featuring a noted speaker in the field. 
  • This scholarship is open to new and continuing enrolled students focused on applied sport psychology in the department of Kinesiology.
  • Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or above and be in good academic standing
  • Preference may be given to students who demonstrate financial need through the application process
  • This is an annual scholarship and all students (previous recipients are eligible) must apply on a yearly basis.
  • Awardee is expected to attend a recognition event and formally accept the award.
  • The scholarship will be awarded each year, beginning spring 2021.
