Description

The Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement of students pursuing graduate studies in Alberta.

It was established to incent the best and the brightest students, including international students, to study in Alberta.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this award, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Is enrolled full-time in a master’s, doctoral, or graduate-level program at the time of application:
    • Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)
    • Doctor of Education (EdD) in Distance Education
    • Master of Arts - Integrated Studies (MAIS)
    • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
    • Master of Counselling (MC)
    • Master of Education in Distance Education (MEd)
    • Master of Health Studies (MHS)
    • Master of Nursing (MN)
    • Master of Science in Information Systems (MScIS)
  • Was enrolled full-time in the fall semester prior to the application cycle
  • Has completed a minimum of 3 program courses within the previous academic year
  • Meets the residency requirements as defined by the Government of Alberta Advanced Education Scholarship Programs in one of the categories below: 
    • International – Non-Canadian (Permanent Resident or Landed Immigrant) resident of Alberta
    • Indigenous – Required to provide proof of Indigenous ancestry (Status or Non-Status Indian/First Nations, Metis or Inuit) and be resident of Alberta
    • Domestic – Canadian Citizen and resident of Alberta
  • Has never previously received this award
  • Has achieved a program GPA of 3.6 or higher
