Description
Ann Purton was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1946 and came to Canada in 1972. During that time she raised a family and worked at a hospital as an admissions clerk in Newfoundland.
One of Ann’s passions was education and she always wanted to attend University. Later in life she decided to attend University working towards a General Bachelor of Arts degree.
She attended classes across many disciplines and was excited about learning. Although Ann did not fulfil her degree as she passed away at age 52, education and learning was a prominent centrepiece of her life.
The purpose of this award is to provide assistance to mothers who would like the opportunity to attend University.

Eligibility
- Available to a full or part-time undergraduate or graduate student.
- The recipient must be a mother who wants the opportunity to fulfil her personal goals.
- First preference will be given to single mothers.
- Demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic standing.
- Applicants must provide a letter outlining why they feel they meet the eligibility requirements
