Description
London School of Economics and Political Science can support you financially if you are admitted to one of its study programmes as an international student.
London School of Economics and Political Science awards scholarships, bursaries, tuition fee reductions and discounts that help you cover existing tuition and living costs.
Benefits
Up to 10 scholarships are available through the Programme, which typically consist of:
- Seven scholarships for new LSE undergraduate students from the UK.
- Three scholarships for new LSE undergraduate students from any country outside the UK (who are classified as Overseas fee status). The Uggla Family has a preference for one overseas Scholar to be from Canada.
For each academic year, scholarships will provide partial tuition fee awards and a full maintenance stipend to cover costs including food, household bills, travel, study books and social events.
Eligibility
To be considered for the Uggla Family Scholars Programme, applicants must have accepted a conditional or unconditional offer of admission on any undergraduate programme at LSE. Candidates must be from low-income households and be able to demonstrate financial need.
Preferred candidates
LSE is looking to support undergraduate students from underrepresented groups as set out in our Access and Participation Plan. We therefore are looking to encourage:
- applications from students who live in an area of low progression to higher education. This is determined by home postcode, which must be in TUNDRA MSOA quintile 1 or 2. Check your postcode to see if you have ‘Quintile 1’ or ‘Quintile 2’ next to TUNDRA MSOA in the table. More information about TUNDRA,
- applications from students who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM),
- applications from underrepresented Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) backgrounds,
- applications from students who are care-experienced,
- applications from students with disabilities,
- applications from students from Canada.

Once you have an offer of admission (conditional or unconditional) to attend LSE, you should submit the following:
LSE Undergraduate Scholarship Application Form
- One academic reference - this can be sent by you together with your scholarship application, or it can be sent to us separately by your referee
- Supporting documents - this will vary dependent on the information you have provided; further guidance can be found in the scholarship application form
- Applicants who follow the process above will be considered against the eligibility requirements for all scholarships
