Description

The Taunton Maids Bursary is available to students aged 18–25 who are enrolled on eligible Music programmes at Bath Spa University. It supports students studying BA Music, BA Commercial Music, BA Creative Music Technology, MMus Songwriting, MMus Performance, MMus Composition, and MMus Creative Sound and Media Technology.

The bursary assists with costs such as instrumental tuition, sheet music, instruments, concerts, performances, and music-related trips. Undergraduate recipients receive support throughout their degree, while postgraduate students receive annual funding. To continue receiving payments, recipients must submit reports and receipts demonstrating how the bursary has been used.

Benefits

Undergraduate: £500–£1,500 over three years, depending on household income.

Postgraduate: £300 per year (full-time) or £150 per year (part-time).

Eligibility

  • Must be 18–25 years old.
  • Must be enrolled in the first year of an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate (master's) Music programme at Bath Spa University.
  • Must study one of the eligible Music courses.
  • Permanent residence before university must have been in Somerset, North Somerset, or Bath and North East Somerset.
  • Must study at Newton Park, Sion Hill, Locksbrook, Corsham Court, or BSU London.
  • Students studying at partner institutions are not eligible.

There is no application process. Eligible students are automatically assessed during the early part of the academic year. Students who meet the eligibility criteria receive an email inviting them to register for the bursary and accept its terms and conditions.
