Description

Entrepreneurship and business are the engine room of regional development.

Business owners create jobs, support local industry, and keep wealth and spending in the community. Through his own career and business mentoring experience, Scott Williams AM has observed the multiplier effect that successful local businesses can have in regional communities.

Since 2016, the Scott Williams Foundation Study Support Bursary has supported many UniSC Bachelor of Business students to complete their degree with the aim of equipping recipients to succeed in business, so they may in turn become employers and contributors in their community.

Benefits

The Bursary is paid in eight fortnightly instalments of A$312.50 (A$2,500 per study period).

Eligibility

  • full-time domestic students
  • enrolled in any undergraduate business or combined business programs
  • residents of Noosa Shire will be considered first, then business students outside of Noosa Shire based on greatest need
  • preference will be given to students who have previously received a Scott Williams Foundation Study Support Bursary who continue to meet all other eligibility criteria
  • students must have completed at least one semester at UniSC (48 units)
  • minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.0
  • Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Permanent Australian Humanitarian Visa holder or Permanent Resident of Australia

Selection criteria:

financial need;

leadership skills demonstrated through academic, extra-curricular, work or community activities;

hours worked in paid employment or commitment to activities that impact on the time available to the student to study (for example: compulsory fieldwork, significant carer responsibilities);

academic merit.
