Main steps to take for the Luxembourgish student visa

Here is what Indian students have to do to get a student visa that will allow them to study in Luxembourg:

Before applying for a visa, you need to apply for a temporary authorisation to stay (on plain paper) at the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in New Delhi, India. The application must be submitted and approved before entering Luxembourg. In case of a favourable reply, you will receive a 'temporary authorisation to stay', sent by post. Within 90 days following receipt of the temporary authorisation to stay, you must submit, in person, a long stay visa application (D) in 2 copies at the Embassy.

Indian students will have to provide biometrics during the visa application process. Your biometrics are, basically, extra identification (e.g. fingerprinting and pictures) that countries use for security purposes.

You won't have to attend a visa interview during the application process.

The Residence permit from Luxembourg is valid for up to 5 years. So that you can stay during your entire degree programme, you may need to renew your visa every year. If you want to stay in Luxembourg after your degree is over, you will have to apply for a different visa, or a visa renewal through the immigration office.
