Ruhr University Research School

Since October 2006 within the framework of the German Excellence Initiative, the Research School promotes top-level postgraduate education throughout Ruhr-University, offering research within 20 faculties and 12 interdisciplinary thematic priorities

At the moment the Research School is not obligatory for doctoral candidates of the RUB but doctoral candidates of all research areas existing on campus - from natural sciences and engineering to the life sciences and the humanities and social sciences - are invited to apply for a membership. It makes no difference if you are already involved in a doctoral programme or not as our activities are organised for doctoral candidates of all disciplines. The Research School is a place of inter- and transdisciplinarity - our unique selling point within the Excellence Initiative. The prominent aim of the Research School is to foster academic culture by forming a community of both established researchers and next-generation researchers, our doctoral fellows. The school is understood as an surplus for all faculties and all existing doctoral programmes at one of the most reform oriented and biggest Universities in Germany- the Ruhr-University Bochum.
