History
The Polytechnic Institute of Tomar was created in 1973 but because of the portuguese revolution in 1974, the process of installation did not materialize.
Education
With 23 bachelor’s and 17 master’s degree courses as well as several post-graduate courses, IPT offers a wide range of training areas and constantly reviewed curricula in order to meet entrepreneurial needs.

The IPT is a polytechnic higher education institution, in the European higher education area, with expertise in the areas of science, technology, arts and humanities which, since its inception, have contributed to the higher education of its students, producing useful knowledge, skills, competences and aptitudes, preparing them for the job market and for the exercise of active citizenship in a democratic society”.
