Sustainable Development through Entrepreneurship
As a student of the Master of Arts in Social Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development, I have experienced an educational journey that is both transformative and empowering. This program is designed to inspire us to make a significant impact on global challenges through innovative and sustainable business practices, through policy influence in development cooperation, and to scale social impact through entreprenuership. The program covers a wide range of subjects, including Sustainable business models, Sustainability management in corporate organizations, Global and regional development, Business ethics, Project management in development cooperation, Social impact assessment, Sustainable supply chain, Alternatives to development, Circular economy, Sustainable finance, among others. This diverse curriculum makes us well-equipped to drive social and environmental sustainable change. The course not only provides me with practical experience to apply classroom concepts to actual social enterprises, but it also challeges my way of thinking. For example, throughout the course we critically analyse the traditional ways of development and dived deeper into how alternative ways of development that are socially and culturally sentisitive could be used in the modern day development institutions. The class discussions are insightful and provide a global perspective becuase the program attracts a diverse range of students from around the world, which enriches the exchange of ideas and perspectives. Because of this, I am able to deeply understand global issues and use my learned entreprenuerial thinking to develop solutions that are culturally and contextually relevant. In addition, we have a team of great lecturers who have experience in the field of social entrepreneurship and development projects who guide and mentor us.
Practice-oriented education in a family atmosphere
I completed the part-time MBA General Management program at the Center for Postgraduate Studies. The workload on a part-time course is of course very high and therefore challenging. However, the organization of the course was very good and the content was spread as evenly as possible throughout the 2.5 years, with classes every other Friday and Saturday. The course was very practice-oriented with professors and lecturers who were able to contribute many case studies from their professional experience. A practical project with a company and a business game were also part of the course, which made it easy to transfer the theoretical knowledge to practical experience and ensure that the content learned was well retained. The group was small enough to get to know all the students. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, unfortunately a lot of teaching had to take place online, but the HNU is very well equipped digitally with its own competence center for digital teaching and learning, so that personal contact was not lost even over distance and digital examination formats were also possible without any problems. It was a shame that the international excursion could not take place due to the pandemic. I benefited greatly from my studies, both personally and professionally, and would recommend them to others. I would also like to emphasize that HNU is very well networked with many international cooperations and practical projects with companies and is therefore a great career springboard.
Studying despite Covid
Due to Covid nearly my whole study experience was via online mediums. Despite that, the University adapted really well to the circumstances and provided theoretical information and practical experience, that helped to really understand the topics.

Student dormitories are amongst the most inexpensive accommodation options. There are different dormitories in Ulm and Neu-Ulm, some of them are operated by public institutions, some commercially.Prices for accommodation vary according to location, size (single room or flat) and existing furniture and/or joint facilities.
As a rule regarding the dormitories run by public institutions, students can stay in the dormitories for up to six semesters. Deposits must be made; currently they usually amount to € 300. It is advisable to look for a room in good time since rooms are assigned in the order of incoming applications. There are long waiting lists, especially during the semester.
