History
The University of New York Tirana (UNYT) was founded in 2002 as a part of the New York College (NYC) Network of Educational Institutions and was the first private University in Albania.
Education
The mission of UNYT is to provide students with the opportunity to obtain university degrees at the Bachelor, Master or Ph.D. level, in a variety of academic and professional specializations, in collaboration with prestigious American and European universities.
The diversity of diplomas offered at UNYT includes an American Bachelor degree awarded by the State University of New York, Empire State College, and a European Bachelor’s Degree with a duration of 3 years’ study program that leads to the award of a European Bachelor’s Degree (180 ECTS) awarded by UNYT and licensed by the Albanian Ministry of Education, Sport, and Youth.Research
Research projects are fundamental to the character of UNYT, its reputation, and its contribution to society. The overall goal is to increase research capacity and intensity by raising the proportion of academic staff conducting research and producing publications and other outputs of the highest quality. UNYT supports interdisciplinary research across all of its departments.
Career
We are committed to help our students and graduates define and achieve their career goals, both short-term and long-term. This is accomplished in many ways including individual career instruction, programs and workshops, resume and cover letter advice, job search and access to the resource library.
The Office purpose is to assist students in preparing for life after graduation, whether that means starting a productive career, going to graduate school, or other meaningful options. Staff and school quality
As a new student in UT Social Sciences, I can gladly say that I have felt very welcomed by the faculty since the first day I registered. I must say, everything is very well organized and the staff is very helpful with any questions that you might have. The campus is large with laboratories that ensure a high quality learning process.
Good university
Good place to learn. Happy to go there and i will definitely recommend it. Good programs and good professor. It worth te learn there. You can visit it and take a talk with them, you will like it for sure.
6 years at UMT
Being a student at UMT for 6 years has been quite an adventure: days filled with excitement, hope and a lot of reading. My professors have left a huge impact on me due to their dedication to teaching and passing down their knowledge to younger generations, for now I dream to continue their hard work. What i would consider a set back regarding UMT would be the amount of practice hours, with is lower compared to international protocols, but I have faith this issue will be dealt with in the upcoming years.

They look at the number of award-winning (Fields Medals and Nobel Prize) scientists who are located there, how much of their research is cited and referenced around the world, and how much they've contributed to different academic fields. After calculating and comparing these criteria, ARWU ranks the universities accordingly.

Student services
International Relations Office – is here to develop and coordinate international activities of staff and students. IRO will be here to support you and make sure that your experience in Tirana and at UNYT is a pleasant one.
Library services
The UNYT library aims to create an inspiring environment for study and research. As far as the information is concerned, students can access it not only through the physical library, which currently numbers 7000 titles of academic books of multi-disciplinary content, but also through the on-line library, which contains numerous scientific e-books and e-journals.
ICT services
UNYT Computer Labs’ machines are equipped with the necessary software needed by the students to accomplish their assignments and school work.
Computer Lab 2B is open to students when it is not in use for class hours. The Lab hours schedule is published/posted in the campus’ designated areas on per-semester bases. The facilities offer constant wired and wireless access to the Internet.
Medical services
University life is a time of change, growth, and transition. The Counseling Center at the University of New York Tirana is dedicated to students through these times of adjustment. The mission of center is to promote the academic success, personal development and psychological well-being of all students and to encourage a university environment that is conducive to growth and learning.
Campus life
UNYT has recently entered the new premises at one of the most pleasant neighboorhoods in Tirana. UNYT campus offers a possibility for the students to enjoy a complete experience from the educational side to the entertainment aspect.
The campus provides special premises for extracurricular activites such as an amphitheater, a fully equipped library with study rooms, computer labs and a marvelous surrounding nature.
Sports facilities
The UNYT campus also offers a fully equipped Athletic Area where students engage in activities such as football, basketball, ping pong and volley ball.
Student clubs
The Student Union, or the student’s government, is the representative of the UNYT student community in every aspect of the student life. The Student Union provides a direct channel of communication with the UNYT Administration to the student community as such, it enriches the student life by organizing different events, trips, parties, tournaments, and responds to student’s needs or complaints. The goal is not only to organize students for specific objectives from time to time, but also to bring them close to each other, creating a healthy and friendly community.
Accreditation
UNYT received its institutional accreditation by the Albanian Ministry of Education and Sciences on 10.10.2006 (Decision No. 385) and was recently institutionally reaccredited by the Ministry of Education and Sport on 28.10.2015 (Decision No. 405).
