Education

Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences is a multidisciplinary institution of higher education and an efficient actor in education and research, development and innovation (RDI) in the region of South Ostrobothnia in West Finland.

 

The number of full-time students is 4800 and academic and other staff members 345. SeAMK has 18 Bachelor and 8 Master degree programmes. Three degree programmes are totally taught in English (Bachelor's Degree Programmes in International Business, Nursing and a Master's Degree in International Business Management). Also double degree programmes are available in the fields of technology and business.

 

Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences provides education aiming at high-level professional qualification in the following fields:

Research

SeAMK conducts research, development and innovation (RDI) with a distinctly practical emphasis, serving teaching and supporting industrial small and medium enterprises (SME) and service production within the region. RDI is carried out in co-operation with regional and national enterprises and organizations. Student involvement in RDI projects is vital to their studies and their objectives of becoming acknowledged experts in their fields. Nearly 100 persons-years have been invested in RDI work yearly. Approximately 70% of the RDI funding comes from external sources. Many RDI projects involve partners from foreign countries.

Library services

Seinäjoki Academic Library is a university library open to everyone. Library collections include professional and scholarly literature and journals on several subject areas both in printed and electronic form. The library produces services and acquires resources for students, teachers and researchers at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. Library staff is willing to help you in finding information and using collections and e-resources. The Library is located on Frami campus. 

Student Life

Campus life

SeAMK has two campuses: Frami Campus in Seinäjoki which is the main campus and Ilmajoki Campus in Ilmajoki. Frami Campus is located right next to Seinäjoki city center. 

The School of Business and Culture offers education, research and development in the Frami campus in the fields of Business, Entrepreneurship, Cultural Management, Design and Library and Information Services.

The School of Food and Agriculture offers education in Agriculture in Ilmajoki campus and the following in the Frami campus area in Seinäjoki: Hospitality Management and Food Processing and Biotechnology.

The School of Health Care and Social Work consists of the unit of Heath Care in and the unit of Social Work. Both are located in the Frami campus area in Seinäjoki.

The School of Technology offers education in Seinäjoki, mainly in the premises of the Frami campus area.

Sports facilities

The gym in Frami Campus is free of charge for students of SeAMK. Student Union SAMO organizes all kinds of sport activities for students for 5–10 euros per semester. These activities include for example floorball, ice hockey, instructed group exercises, yoga, basketball, kettlebell workouts and volleyball.

Student clubs

The student union of Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SAMO) is an association established and run by the students. The union’s diverse objectives range from monitoring the standard of instruction and networking with the Finnish Government to organizing student parties and other leisure time activities. A special social programme is available for international students organised together with the staff of international office and the different schools of SeAMK.
