History
The training of elementary school teachers in their school subjects began in Heidelberg in 1904 - although initially only with 39 trainees. In July 1958, the "Law on the Training of Elementary School Teachers" in Baden-Württemberg set the course for the foundation of independent pedagogical universities, which should combine scientific research and teaching with the requirements of school practice

Housing services
The youth hostel is located in the northwest of the city, in Neuenheimer Feld, right on the Neckar. It has direct access to the neighboring zoo and is in the immediate vicinity of the botanical garden and swimming pool.
