Offering professionals the chance to gain a state-recognized university degree without having to give up work or restrict their professional activity – this has been the objective of FOM University of Applied Sciences since its foundation in 1993.

“Flexible studies with strong practical focus”
FOM Hochschule offers a very flexible study model that is especially suitable for working professionals. One of the biggest strengths of the Engineering and Management master’s program is the strong practical orientation. Many lecturers come from industry and share real-world examples, which helps to connect theory with practice. The course structure allows students to balance work and studies, which is a big advantage. However, some modules could be more in-depth, especially on the technical side, and the workload can feel uneven across semesters. In addition, more international exposure and research-oriented content would further improve the program. Overall, my experience at FOM has been positive, particularly because of the flexibility, practical relevance, and supportive learning environment.
Generally positive experience
I completed a duales Studium here, and overall, my experience was positive. However, there were a few organisational issues that could have been handled better. For example, the class schedule was only published a week before the semester started, and the language of one exam was changed from German to English just a day before, even though the content remained the same.
Weekend schedule fit
Good University for students who are willing to study besides their job. Lecturers have good practical experience. However, there are a lot of courses on the weekend. The general athmosphere is very good and the academic staff is very competent.
Student services
FOM students combine full-time work with studying for a university degree. We support you with a number of special services so that you don't have to waste valuable time dealing with administrative formalities while studying and working.
