Computer Science & IT (1)



We provide education and research in engineering, economics and management, life science technologies, design and construction. Almost 6,700 students, 174 professors and 527 employees are based at our campuses in Lemgo, Detmold, and Höxter.


In the field of research and technology OWL UAS has two main profile areas: life science technology and industrial IT. The Institute Industrial IT (inIT) carries out research in the field of industrial informatics and industrial automation for cyber-physical systems. The InIT is located in a science to business center (Centrum Industrial IT) on the Innovation Campus Lemgo, where more than 200 engineers from companies and research institutes are working in the field of industrial IT.

Student services

All enrolled students belong to the official body of students. The uppermost decision-making organ of the body of students is the student parliament.

The student parliament elects from its ranks the Students' Union Executive Committee (AStA), which is composed of the Board and speakers (e.g. Finance, International, Cultural, Social and Press Relations Officers).

Campus life

The university has three campuses: Lemgo, Detmold and Höxter.At Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Science you study and work close to cities like Bielefeld, Paderborn and Hameln.

OWL is situated in North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW), western Germany.

Between Weser and Teutoburg Forest living is more than relaxed. Students are able to discover North Rhine-Westphalia with its highlights Cologne, Aachen and the Ruhrgebiet.

At the campus – no matter at which location – there is a family environment with a lot of offers for both students and employees:

Student clubs

Since 2005, each year OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts students have been using their summer semester breaks to volunteer for social projects in Chile. These include renovating and expanding a building in a kindergarten in Puerto Montt, which is located on a harbor in southern Chile. The local partner in the project is the Chilean Organisation Fundación Juan XXIII, which supports child and teen educational projects in the area.
