History
LIST was created from the merger of the Public Research Centres Gabriel Lippmann and Henri Tudor. In operation since the 1st January 2015, it benefits from the competences of these two major actors in the Luxembourg research, established in 1987. In April 2012, the board of directors of the Public Research Centres Gabriel Lippmann and Henri Tudor decided to join forces.
Research
- The “Environmental Research & Innovation” (ERIN) department develops strategies, technologies and tools to better monitor, assess, use and safeguard natural and renewable resources. Its research topics are water security and safety,biopolymers and bioenergy.
- The “IT for Innovative Services” (ITIS) department develops innovative IT services within an open innovation process integrating all stakeholders concerned. Its research focuses on “big data” operational issues for decision-making, use of information systems in measuring and controlling the quality of services in networked enterprises.
- The “Materials Research and Technology” (MRT) department focuses its activities on advanced materials and nanotechnologies.

Housing services
A real reconversion challenge, with the aim of becoming the most important education and research pole in Luxembourg, the site has gradually grown to welcome private businesses, public institutions, living accommodation and shops.
Campus life
In the South of Luxembourg, the former industrial wasteland of Belval has given way to a new urban district, which began to emerge in 2005.
