Strategic & Practical Project Management
My experience with the Postgraduate Certificate in Project Management at FGV was outstanding. The curriculum is well-structured, blending theoretical PMBOK concepts with real-world applications. The highlight for me was the 'Business Game' simulation (LDP), where we managed a company over 8 periods, making strategic decisions under pressure. This practical approach was much more valuable than a traditional thesis. Additionally, the focus on Soft Skills and Pitching during the final seminar was a game-changer for my career as an engineer. The online platform was robust, allowing me to study while working full-time. Highly recommended for professionals looking to bridge the gap between technical skills and management.

A Good Fit for Practice-Oriented Students
I chose to do a dual study program because the practical part was very important to me. I really liked the split week model, spending half of the week at work and the other half at university worked very well for me. The combination of theory and practice was exactly what I was looking for. In my opinion, whether someone enjoys a dual program depends a lot on where they work and how well they handle the structure. It’s quite hands-on and includes a lot of presentations, group work, discussions, and independent projects. We conducted market research, designed surveys, worked on real business cases, and applied what we learned directly. I personally appreciated that, because it helped me understand how to use theoretical knowledge in practice. All of the professors have a professional background outside academia, which makes the courses very practical. They organize guest speakers and sometimes company visits. I also had several exams based on real company tasks, which I found very useful since it reflects real working situations. A dual study program is not for everyone, but for people who value practical experience and don’t mind balancing work and university, it can be a good option. Regarding the university itself, my experience has been mostly positive. I was generally satisfied with my professors and felt supported. The front desk was helpful when I had questions, and I’ve noticed improvements over the past years. Whenever something was unclear, I could call and usually received assistance.

Accreditation
With over 25 years of expertise, all our programmes have been officially accredited by the German Accreditation Council. This certification attests to the fact that study programmes adhere to the most recent academic standards and are designed by qualified professionals.
Since IU is system accredited by FIBAA, we can independently accredit new programmes — in compliance with legally specified quality criteria – and adapt to market demands without sacrificing quality.
It is reaccredited for five years by the German Council of Science and Humanities in 2021.
As IU is recognised by FIBAA, we are therefore also validated by EQAR. This means that our programmes, teaching, and resources are aligned with the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG).
