History
In 1527, Landgrave Philip the Magnanimous of Hesse founded the first Protestant university in the world in Marburg, which still exists today. It has been named after its founder since the early 20th century.
Education
At Philipps University, people with different ideas of good teaching come together in very different contexts. It is clear that the perspective on teaching is subject to constant change.
Our goal as an institution is to give teachers and learners the space and framework they need to implement and develop their ideas about good teaching.
Research
Advances in knowledge arise from outstanding achievements in the individual sciences. They form the basis for the interaction and the mutual thematic and methodical fertilization of subjects and specialist cultures. Research is then bundled in interdisciplinary collaborations - within the Philipps University, with partners in the region and worldwide.

Small city double‑degree challenge
good university in a nice small city, seminars are interesting, recommend becoming part of a student association and doing an exchange semester, double degree is more exhausting than normal degree......
A good place to develop theoretically and practica
I really enjoy my school a lot, especially because many of the teachers are very accommodating and you can tell they genuinely want you to succeed. I also appreciate that the school incorporates practical elements into the curriculum. Having the opportunity to apply theory into practice makes learning more meaningful and provides a deeper understanding of the subject. It's an aspect of the school that I truly value and contributes to a stimulating and rewarding learning environment.
Marburg is Amazing
Nice university with a broad scope on its majors offered. You got freedom to choose many different courses as well.
