History
The Minister of Education of the Slovak Republic submitted the aforementioned request to the Government of the Slovak Republic, and the latter confirmed it by voting in resolution no. 536 of June 7, 2006 establishing the University of Security Management in Košice.
Education
The wide spectrum of taught subjects gives the graduate the basics of knowledge necessary for a realistic evaluation of the daily demands placed on the manager and the correct decision with an emphasis on safety aspects.
Research
Basic research topics (areas) of the long-term aim of the scientific work of the USM in Košice:
- Theory and methodology of security sciences (in theoretical and practical - application level).
- Theory and methodology of security and crisis management in the public and private sphere,
- Systems and technology of security protection against security threats. Analysis and management of security risks.
- Content, methodical and organizational problems of higher education in the field of protection of persons and property.

Library services
The Academic Library of the USM in Košice is a scientific and informational, bibliographic, coordinating, consulting and educational workplace that provides its library and information services.
The library fund consists of study literature, textbooks, final and qualification theses, monographs, domestic and foreign publications, documents and periodicals according to the school's field of study.
ICT services
Online study room - which is equipped with computer workstations with Internet access, which we provide free of charge for registered library users. Students of the university have the opportunity to search for information on the Internet, send e-mail messages, as well as use the company's programmes on their computers without major restrictions.
