Strathmore College was started in 1961 as an Advanced-level Sixth Form College offering Science and Arts subjects by a group of professionals, who formed a charitable Educational Trust (now the Strathmore Educational Trust). Strathmore College was the first in Pre-independence Kenya to accommodate all races, religions and social standing.
Mission: To provide all-round quality education in an atmosphere of freedom and responsibility excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, ethical and social development and service to society.
Research and Innovation is one of our strategic pillars as a university. Strathmore University is considered to be a center of excellence in teaching and research. We wish to enhance this by providing facilities and support for innovative research and extension services. We want to provide a conducive environment for the continuous education and improvement of staff in their academic and professional careers. We aim to forge academic partnerships and links with other academic institutions, the professions, industry and commerce and to be at the forefront of technological innovation and its specific application within the local context.

I liked about drees code , academic experience was good
My undergraduate studies provided the essential academic and personal architecture for my future. Through rigorous coursework and practical challenges, I built critical thinking skills, technical knowledge, and a disciplined work ethic. Beyond the classroom, navigating diverse group dynamics and campus leadership shaped my communication style and problem-solving abilities. This educational journey did not just grant me a degree; it established the core values and foundational expertise that will support the rest of my professional life.
Strathmore to me has been more than just a university, it became more like a home a safe space to me to the point where I could start fearing the comfort I had during my journey as a student in Strathmore. Having completed my Masters in Information Technology, I also had the priviledge to work under the ICT support office of the university as a student assistant. So not only was I gaining in my studies but Strathmore also gave me a space to grow professionally as I served as an IT support and Audio-visuals assistant. I was working during the day and attending evening classes... yes it was a tough routine but it really shaped me and I will be forever grateful for that. I also met a number of people whom I interacted with and who contributed significantly in my journey, through their encouragements and so much more. In summary I can only say that Strathmore University has been a good place for me to be.
There are many privately owned facilities around the University. Students are assisted to find a hostel by being provided with information on the different hostel facility.
