UMA was initially established as Ardabil Junior College of Agriculture in 1978 with enrollment of 30 students pursuing associate degree in Agriculture and by changing the name to Ardabil Junior College of Agriculture, the institute underwent comprehensive structural and organizational changes within a relatively short period of time.
It now offers more than 263 majors, 59 PhD programs, 125 Master programs, 71 Bachelor programs, and 8 Associate programs.

Residential life is an integral part of the university experience. Around half of nonnative students live in on and off campus dormitories during their studies. Living on campus offers so much more than four walls and a bed. The role of each dormitory is not just to provide accommodation, but also to cultivate healthier relationships through disciplined communal living.
The Library has access to Scopus databases, Daneshlink articles, WOS citation analysis, Samidak, Sivilica, Normgs, Magiran, Sementak, Articlegate, ArticleGate, Academic Documents and Documentation, Software such as iTenticate International, Databases ISI and Scival citations, MathSciNet Information Science Database, IEEE Science Information Base, and Global Electronic Library.
The Information Technology Center is responsible for any IT-based activity in the university. For this reason it offers services in the following areas:

The University Health Center (UHQ) is a medical unit situated within the main campus in Ardabil. UHC has three primary care Medical Clinics staffed with physicians, nurses, and other service providers. The medical care is provided and if needed, the patient is transferred to a city’s hospital.
The main campus of the university is located on the east side of the beautiful Shorabil Lake in Ardabil. Three other campuses are in Namin, Moghan, and Meshgin Shahr. The university is now organized into 8 Faculties that offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of fields.
Our sports halls of various sizes are equipped to host a wide range of sports including football, badminton, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, sport classes, etc., which are available to different groups according to the policy planned by Physical Education Office.
