History
Lyon Polytechnic Institute was created in 1992 and gathers 4 higher education institutions in Lyon offering masters of science and Engineering: CPE, ECAM-Lasalle-Lyon, ISARA and ITECH. The history of some of these schools date back to the 1880’s.
Education
IPL schools offer cross-disciplinary education combining high-level scientific and technical knowledge with management skills while supporting students’ personal, professional and social development. The teaching is deeply rooted in the industrial reality, thanks the long-term partnerships of the schools with companies and industries. Courses are taught by researchers as well as professionals, several “real-life” hands-on projects, internships and work placements are proposed throughout the curriculum, with a very high employment rate within six-months after students’ graduation.
Research
IPL schools provide applied research activities to respond to industrial issues and support socio-economic development. They also develop vocational training programs for companies’ staff. Industrial research projects are an integral part of students’ curriculum.

Our graduates hold a variety of positions (R&D, production management, quality and safety, consulting and expertise, sales and marketing, logistics and supply chain) in a wide-range of industries and sectors of activities:

Comprehensive Engineering Program
I appreciated the strong curriculum, but more hands-on industry exposure would improve the experience. Overall, Polytech Lyon provides a solid foundation for future engineers, blending theoretical knowledge with practical projects. However, enhancing the link between academia and the professional world could make the program even more impactful.

Student services
All international students have a full access to student offices on each campus. International relation departments in each school are dedicated to provide them with all services adapted to their needs (administration, visa, residence permits, housing, academic mentoring and tutoring, medical care…). Moreover, dedicated student associations are also there to help international students integrate in their school and make the most of their international experience in France. The services offered to international students include:

Housing services
CPE
- International students have a guaranteed place in student housing located within walking distance to CPE Lyon.
ECAM-Lasalle
- ECAM-Lasalle Lyon campus housing gives our students easy access to all of the on-campus events and activities, surrounds them with their friends and fellow students, offers out of the classroom learning opportunities, and of course, makes getting to class much easier.
ISARA
- ISARA students have a guaranted pre-booked room at Lyon public residence halls.
- ITECH’s housing service benefits from a network of contacts with individual and shared apartments as well as spots within student residence dedicated to ITECH Students.
Library services
Library services are fully accessible in each school. The libraries offer a quiet place to study and work, and a large variety of printed and digitized resources in the specialty areas of each school.
ICT services
IPL schools give international students an access to both LAN and WIFI connection on campus. Free-access computers are also available in the dedicated IT rooms and in the libraries.
Medical services
Fulfillment and well-being are a priority for us therefore we provide services, and resources to accompany students on their quest for better health and working conditions. We offer a wide variety of holistic services to accompany students on their journey towards their optimal health and wellness including:
- On-campus doctor

- A wide variety of sport clubs and activities
Campus life
Each school is located on a separate campus, with cafeteria and restaurants on site or in a walking distance. They offer quiet places to work, co-working spaces, libraries, labs and technological platforms.
Sports facilities
CPE:
- There are extensive sports facilities on the LyonTech - La Doua campus: athletics court, tennis courts, health, fitness and body building facilities and a swimming pool.
- A weights room, a gym and a multi-sport terrain on campus
- ASC Isara: A sports and cultural association gives students the opportunity to take part in a variety of team sports and cultural activities. 37 activities proposed: soccer, volleyball, rugby, dance... Every Thursday afternoon, students participate in these sporting events with other schools.
- ITECH has partnerships with other schools in Lyon in order to have enough students to participate in team sports like basketball, handball, and volleyball.
Student clubs
International students have full access to a vibrant student life animated by several clubs, including all types of sports, culture, theatre, music, literature, gaming, humanitarian actions, and many others according to their passion. All IPL schools encourage their students to get involved in these activities, which contribute to personal and professional development and provide a healthy counterbalance to the hard-working student life.
