Lyon Polytechnic Institute was created in 1992 and gathers 4 higher education institutions in Lyon offering masters of science and Engineering: CPE, ECAM-Lasalle-Lyon, ISARA and ITECH. The history of some of these schools date back to the 1880’s.
IPL schools offer cross-disciplinary education combining high-level scientific and technical knowledge with management skills while supporting students’ personal, professional and social development. The teaching is deeply rooted in the industrial reality, thanks the long-term partnerships of the schools with companies and industries. Courses are taught by researchers as well as professionals, several “real-life” hands-on projects, internships and work placements are proposed throughout the curriculum, with a very high employment rate within six-months after students’ graduation.
IPL schools provide applied research activities to respond to industrial issues and support socio-economic development. They also develop vocational training programs for companies’ staff. Industrial research projects are an integral part of students’ curriculum.

I appreciated the strong curriculum, but more hands-on industry exposure would improve the experience. Overall, Polytech Lyon provides a solid foundation for future engineers, blending theoretical knowledge with practical projects. However, enhancing the link between academia and the professional world could make the program even more impactful.
All international students have a full access to student offices on each campus. International relation departments in each school are dedicated to provide them with all services adapted to their needs (administration, visa, residence permits, housing, academic mentoring and tutoring, medical care…). Moreover, dedicated student associations are also there to help international students integrate in their school and make the most of their international experience in France. The services offered to international students include:
