Cyprus West University gave me a life-changing opp
Scholarship Study Experience Review By Cedrick Mufuanyina Dikamba When I look back at my academic journey, I realize how life-changing the right opportunity can be—especially when supported by a scholarship. Receiving a 100% scholarship to study Psychology at Cyprus West University was not just financial aid—it was a lifeline that turned years of uncertainty into hope, purpose, and achievement. As an international student from the Democratic Republic of Congo who lost both parents at a young age, I had many reasons to give up. Instead, I chose to persevere. The scholarship I received allowed me to pursue my education without the burden of financial worry. It gave me access to quality education, diverse classmates, and academic support systems that helped me thrive. Over eight semesters, I graduated with multiple High Honour Certificates and a deepened passion for Human Resources and Psychology. What made the experience truly meaningful was the sense of being seen and supported. Scholarships are more than money—they’re a message that someone believes in your potential. And that belief fueled me to aim higher. Today, I’m pursuing a Master’s in International Human Resource Management and applying for further scholarships, including through Studyportals. To anyone considering applying for a scholarship: do it. Be honest about your journey, clear about your goals, and never underestimate your own story. The right opportunity can change everything—just as it did for me.
Studying On the Island
I was stuck before I found the bachelors portal. The website did such a great job and helped me identify a university within my budget. Living in the TRNC has its ups and downs. Sometimes more ups than downs but that is the way of life. The Northern side of Cyprus has strict rules when it comes to travelling to other countries which is not something that they share with you. The university itself in all honesty was not that great. I was lucky enough to be taught by all the qualified teachers before they left the school but the international students are treated poorly. The only thing the school really cares about is money. They do not provide a school bus, they do not pick students up from the airport, the staff is almost never paid on time. I would not recommend this school. They have so much work to do.
My enrollment at Cyprus West University
I started my computer engineering course at the end of 2020, but I couldn't get a part time job to keep up my studies and pay my fees. As a result of that, I had to freeze my course after attending just One Semester. So I couldn't go back to University after then. The System is really frustrating.
