Research
Three research centres are located at DPU: the Centre for Digital Technologies in Dental Medicine and CAD/CAM under the direction of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Constantin von See MaHM, the Centre for the Natural and Cultural History of Man under the direction of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Kurt W. Alt, and the Biosciences Centre under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peter Engel, each with globally recognised publications in high-impact-factor journals. These research foci result in research projects with around 30 renowned partner universities worldwide, as well as with the cooperating industry.
Career
The Faculty of Medicine/Dentistry puts value on a special practical orientation from the beginning of the study program. In the second semester, students in the subject area of “Introduction to Clinical Dentistry“ are already introduced to patients. The internship “Career Field Identification“ takes place after an introduction of the University in the form of work shadowing in selected cooperating practices instead. In four of the six pre-clinical semesters, DPU students come into contact with patients and clinical issues

Student services
The Student Body (Fachschaft) of the Danube Private University (DPU) is both a registered association and the elected representation of the roughly 670 students of the Faculty of Medicine/Dentistry.
The two study group representatives elected from each semester are appointed to the Student Body, where they meet at monthly meetings to ensure a reliable exchange of information between students of all semesters and address any questions and concerns that may arise. The Student Body, which is composed all the elected semester representatives, in turn elects two chairpersons, one for the pre-clinical stage and one for the clinical stage of study, who then have seats in the University Senate.
Campus life
The students and academic staff at the DPU enjoy spending time and embarking on activities together both during the courses and in their free time. They often like to refer to each other as the “DPU family”.
The enrolment ceremonies take place in the collegiate church at the Benedictine Abbey of Göttweig with a blessing by Abbot Columban or Father Patrick who is in charge of the pastoral care for the students. The ceremony is accompanied by the DPU choir, which is made up of students and staff, and often invited to perform at the abbeys and churches of the region.
Sports facilities
For a sustainable balance between life and work, sports and teambuilding play an important role within the student body. DPU created its own sports initiative for this purpose, the “DPU Sporting Club“. DPU’s tennis, football, running and golf teams have already achieved impressive success, including through regional tournaments, for example, advancement in District League B in tennis.
