The founding of the International Psychoanalytic University Berlin is based on an initiative of Prof. Dr. med. Christa Rohde-Dachser and Prof. Dr. med. Jürgen Körner back. They founded the non-profit "Society for the Advancement of University Psychoanalysis mbH" with the aim of setting up a private, psychoanalytically oriented university in Berlin , which began operating in autumn 2009.
Psychoanalysis has been a very effective method of treating mental and psychosomatic illnesses for more than 100 years. In its different methodological variants, it has permanently helped many patients. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy and deep psychology-based psychotherapy are - in addition to behavioral therapy - the only funded by the health insurance psychotherapy methods in Germany.
