The Colburn Conservatory of Music was created in 2003 with a unique all-scholarship model, attracting the highest level of talent from around the world. Each student is admitted on the basis of talent and potential alone, and given full scholarship for tuition, room, and board. Conservatory students graduate debt-free and ready to embark on professional careers.
As an undergraduate in our Bachelor of Music degree or Performance Diploma program, or a graduate student in our Master of Music degree, Artist Diploma, or Professional Studies Certificate program, you will be surrounded by expert artists and scholars with whom you can learn, collaborate, and forge your future. Whether you aspire to a solo career or a life in chamber music; to be an entrepreneur or a teacher; or to win a position in an orchestra or to be a conductor, you will find the tools and inspiration to follow your dreams and open your world.
All students in the Conservatory are performance majors and the curriculum for all five programs has at its core applied lessons, chamber ensembles, and orchestra.Our career development programs ensure you develop not just as a musician at the highest level of skill and artistry, but as an innovator and educator.

First- and second-year undergraduate students in the Colburn Conservatory of Music are required to live in the residence hall unless married, over 21, or living with a parent or legal guardian in the Los Angeles area. Third- or fourth-year, post-baccalaureate, and transfer students can opt to find their own living arrangements. Our Residential Life Office has resources available to help find suitable housing.
The Colburn Library, located on the second floor of the Olive Building, houses a circulating collection of books, scores and parts, recordings, and online subscription resources available to all students on campus, as well as links to useful supplemental internet resources.
The Colburn School’s campus presents a vibrant atmosphere in the heart of the arts district. Presenting an architectural elegance to house its acoustically advanced performance halls, library, and special collections, the School serves the needs of both students and faculty, as well those interested in renting performance space or attending a live performance. Additionally, the open plaza provides a perfect setting for gathering, dining, parties, and outdoor performances. And nestled just off of the plaza, is the Colburn Café. The Café offers a variety of seasonal fare, including several signature stations providing delicious dishes each day for both students and the public.
The Colburn Conservatory of Music, Music Academy, and Community School of Performing Arts (Community School) are accredited by NASM, and the Conservatory receives its degree-granting rights through this accreditation.
