University of Applied Sciences VERN’ is a private business school. It was founded in 2000 as the first Croatian private higher education institution. Until today it has swiftly developed and became publicly recognized as Croatian academic business brand.

History

VERN' was founded in 1990 as the first private business college in Croatia. Its educational activities started in 1994 as a one-year program. With the blessing of the former Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Croatia VERN' University of Applied Sciences was established in 2000 and in 2007 it became the first Croatian business university of applied sciences.

Education

Croatia has a binary higher education system, meaning that prospective students can choose between two types of higher education studies:

  • University studies – consisting of academic programs conducted solely at universities
  • Professional studies – consisting of professional programs conducted at polytechnics or colleges of applied sciences (exceptionally, professional programs can also be implemented at universities).

Career

Vern' Alumni Club gathers a growing population of VERN's graduates with the aim of their mutual cooperation networking, exchanging ideas and business experience. Alumni Club Goals primarily through guest lectures prominent Croatian and international guests, conferences and seminars from various business spheres on subjects of general and social significance. Integral part of alumni events are also informal gatherings which affirm the specific sense of attachment that watches VERN' students during all the professional career. One of the most important activities of Alumni is also researching the employability of VERN' students and active participation in their employment and career development.

Student services

Student services and associated administration have their offices on the first floor of Importanne Galleria. 

Housing services

Upon students’ registration for studying at VERN' University, students will receive a list of house agents regarding their accommodation in Zagreb.

Depending of the type of accommodation, cost can vary: 200 – 500 EUR per month. Please note that the cost of accommodation can change during the year.

Students are not obligated to use the University’s housing agents.

Library services

All students have access to the library where they can do their research, borrow books, use the databases, study or use the IT resources that are offered in the Library.

Medical services

Students enrolled in a selected study program are required by the Croatian law and VERN’ University to show proof of insurance coverage for the whole academic year. Student must have valid health insurance / health care accepted in Croatia during the whole study period. Additionally, valid health insurance is a requirement for obtaining a visa and regulation of stay in Zagreb, Croatia.

Campus life

Classes take place in modern multimedia equipped classrooms located on the first and second floor of Importanne Galleria (Trg Drage Iblera 10) in downtown Zagreb. 

Student services and associated administration have their offices on the first floor of Importanne Galleria. Students and teachers of VERN’ currently enjoy the use of 6,000 square meters of superbly decorated and furnished rooms, which give them a computerized working environment with Internet access, study libraries and reading rooms, as well as the online system Edunet through which it is possible to do most of the technical and administrative matters related to studying.

Sports facilities

VERN’ encourages its students to participate in recreational and sporting activities such as futsal, basketball, volleyball, handball, swimming, fitness and many others. 

VERN’s sport teams have achieved amazing results at the local and international university championships. In the last three years VERN’s teams and individual competitors have won a total of 24 gold, 21 silver and 29 bronze medals in various disciplines and sporting competitions! But, as we all know, it’s not all about competition. 

For those of you who enjoy recreational sport and fitness, VERN’ offers free access to recreational facilities at several locations in the city.
