Girne American University was founded in 1985 and has grown from its small beginnings to being a very strong university with 15,000 students.

Girne American University, as a pioneer, in the island is encouraging the academicians and students to participate in scientific researches.

One of our main goals is to make sustainable scientific research and conducting them within our Research Centers, as well as our academicians and students are able to do individual research projects.

A step closer to my dream

I had an amazing experience in Girne American University. As an international student I was able to experience new cultures and discover new lifestyle. Living abroad was a little bit hard but it taught me how to depend on myself and developed my communication skills. The courses I took were incredibly useful and helpful for my learning journey. And I’m still not done yet with my journey. I believe I still have a lot to learn and achieve.

Business management

Risk Management Identifying and mitigating risks is an ongoing challenge. My experience has highlighted the importance of proactive risk management strategies, from market fluctuations to operational risks. Developing contingency plans and being prepared for uncertainties have been key aspects of my management practice.

Student services

The University’s convention center is located in the Spectrum Hall and has a seating capacity for 1,000 people. The International Congress Hall used for Internationals and National events, recitals and plays.

Housing services

Elysium Court Girls Residence

This is an on-campus residence hall, where you can enjoy the view of the Mediterranean while being steps away from all of your classes. Students can stay in single or double rooms.

Gordon Bennet Girls Residence

There are single and double rooms in this residence hall which is 800 meters away from the campus.

Knowledge Village Girls Residence

This residence has quadruple rooms, and is 25-30 minute walking distance from the campus.

Univer-City Complex Boys Residence

This is an off campus residence hall. There are single or double rooms and there is a regular bus service to the campus.

Library services

Girne American University will be opening a library and congress centre in the GAU Canterbury Campus. A statement by GAU said that the library, Cylibrary, Congress and Seminar Halls will also benefit the cultural and scientific life of Canterbury. The library will also include a multipurpose hall, Student Union and rest areas for students.

ICT services

GAU students can benefit free of charge from the WiFi connection available on the campus.

Medical services

Girne American University Medical Center has been providing services since spring 2006. Our Medical Center is active for GAU students, staff as well as Girne American nursery, primary school and college students and staff. Our services include first aid, simple dosage medicine, checking blood pressure, body temperature and glucose level.

Campus life

Besides the student-oriented education, GAU arranges activities that will improve social and cultural side of the students. Symposiums, conferences and communes within the scope of over 1000 activities are held by experts in their fields to support their studies every academic year.

You will be in the right center of campus life with the opening cortege of the academic year, spring fests, dance and theatre festival which are organized conventionally every year. GAU breaks grounds with academic and social activities in Cyprus, also has a very good reputation and distinguished name in social responsibility projects.
