History
Our University has evolved and grown, shaped by the needs of the community it serves. Located in the Watts-Willowbrook section of South Los Angeles, the institution benefits from its location and the corresponding diversity. Following nearly a decade of community-based advocacy for improved medical services, Charles R. Drew Postgraduate Medical School was incorporated in August of 1966.
Education
The following other academic programs are offered: Master of Science in Nursing which offers the Family Nurse Practitioner and Entry Level Master’s curricula of study, Urban Public Health Master of Public Health, General Studies, Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Pre-Medicine, Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, Associate of Science in Health Information Technology, and Associate of Science in Radiographic Technology.
Research
A large grant for translational research was awarded to the university in 2010. The AXIS (Accelerating eXcellence In Science) is modeled after similar translational research programs at universities such as Harvard. The purpose of AXIS is to conduct clinical and translational research, especially research that is focused on health disparities.

Why I want to become a paramedic

Library services
The Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science has evolved and grown, shaped by the needs of the community it serves. Located in the Watts-Willowbrook section of South Los Angeles, the institution benefits from its location and the corresponding diversity and complexity of its patient population by creating an academic environment unlike any other.
ICT services
The Charles Drew Information Systems Helpdesk provides phone, web and in person technical support to the campus community. All calls are logged and tracked to assure good service. We provide support for both hardware and software, as well as network connectivity (Cabling, switches, routers), and telephones.
Medical services
All full-time registered undergraduate students taking 12 or more credits and all registered graduate students taking 9 or more will be automatically enrolled in this insurance plan and the premium for coverage is added to their tuition billing, unless proof of comparable coverage is received by the deadline.
