The creation of ENSTA
In 1970, the Délégation Générale pour l'Armement (Arms administration of the Ministry of Defence) merged the school with three of its other establishments:
ENSTA ParisTech offers its students a broad education in engineering with the aim of enabling them to design, carry out and manage complex technical projects, while meeting economic constraints in an international environment.
ENSTA ParisTech has six academic departments which conduct applied research in close collaboration with industry, as well as fundamental research in certain instances. The wide variety of topics covered reflects the broad array of specialities proposed in education. Indeed, the research staff is deeply involved in education, and the laboratories are the physical aspect of 'education and research departments' (UER - Unités d'enseignement et de recherche).

ENSTA ParisTech is located in Paris since its creation in 1970. In 2012, our school of engineering is moving on the Paris-Saclay Campus(link is external), located on the Saclay plateau. Only 15 km from Paris, the school is easy to reach by car or public transportation. The new campus provides teaching facilities, student accommodations, catering and hotel services and a range of outstanding sporting facilities for the people who live, work and study there.
The organizations are particularly active at ENSTA ParisTech and enable volunteers to gain initial experience that is recognised by the world of business. This is also an opportunity to give free rein to your enthusiasms or invest in the life of the school through valuable projects such as the Gala, the Trium Forum or the Taep junior enterprise.
