Multidisciplinary Architecture Program
My overall experience at the University of Patras, Department of Architecture, has been challenging but very rewarding. What I valued most was the multidisciplinary nature of the program, which combines technical and scientific knowledge with artistic exploration and critical thinking. The integrated master’s structure allowed for depth and continuity in learning, while studio courses encouraged us to think outside the box and approach complex design problems creatively. Over time, the program helped me develop my own architectural language and design identity. That said, the workload can be intense and sometimes unevenly distributed, and certain courses could benefit from clearer organization and stronger links to contemporary professional practice. Overall, it is a demanding program that fosters independent thinking, resilience, and a strong conceptual approach to architecture.
Perfect
The University of Patras offers a dynamic academic environment with strong research programs and dedicated faculty. Its scenic campus enhances student life, while diverse departments foster interdisciplinary learning. Though some facilities need modernization, the university provides valuable opportunities for growth, innovation, and international collaboration. A solid choice for higher education.
A JOURNEY OF GROWTH THROUGH CHALLENGES
I began my studies at the University of Patras, in the Department of Chemistry, excited for whatever positive or negative experiences the future might hold. Looking back, I never expected to experience such significant personal and academic growth in so few years. My journey was anything but linear. I would describe it as full of waves of emotions. From initial enthusiasm, I went through phases of disappointment, intense sadness, doubt, frustration, and disorientation, but also phases of appreciation, love, joy, and more. Through all of these experiences, I developed a deeper and more meaningful relationship with myself, because everything starts there. The Chemistry department was my first choice from the beginning. Since I was a child, I imagined becoming a scientist, helping the world, and primarily securing my financial future. However, over the years, I realized that money was not what gave me purpose. After a period of self-reflection, I understood that everything starts from within. Not from the city you live in, your home, the money you earn, or the people you "happen" to meet. This realization significantly changed my life. My purpose became striving for myself: understanding what excites me, what I enjoy, and which area of science I could truly immerce myself in. One thing I believe is worth sharing is my curiosity. I was never the type of person to accept knowledge unquestioningly. Questions and a need for further exploration always followed. During my undergraduate studies, as I began to learn the scientific world, I gradually lost a bit of my confidence. All the knowledge I was given seemed unshakable. Yet, I vividly remember a lecture in Inorganic Chemistry when the professor announced a new discovery. It was found that the covalent bond, the bond we had been taught since high school as the mutual sharing of two electrons, actually involved only one electron. Moments like this remind you that everything can change and everything can be questioned. A simple example from a university lecture can make you rethink your thoughts, decisions, and way of acting. And why not question a simple bond when no one has explained how it was discovered? Still, this knowledge, so widely accepted, had never been questioned. These years taught me, beyond the importance of failure and difficulties, self-confidence, resilience, and belief in myself, both in science and in life. Although these years brought perhaps more difficult moments than easy ones, it is precisely those challenges that shape a person, and I am grateful for them.
