Bishop’s University was founded as Bishop’s College in 1843, under the sponsorship of the Right Reverend G.J. Mountain, the Anglican Bishop of Quebec, with the assistance of a group of clergy and laymen from the Eastern Townships.
Bishop’s University is a predominantly residential, undergraduate university. Our primary concern is offering students a quality education in the fine arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business and education. The residential aspect of our small size (2,400 full-time students) encourages students to immerse themselves in the complete Bishop’s experience.
Many people don’t realize that a primarily undergraduate, liberal education institution like Bishop’s can include a vibrant and thriving research component in its mandate. Bishop’s, however, is proof that one can. Our Research Office, under the direction of the Vice-Principal Academic, supports a wide range of scientific, scholarly, and creative research activities conducted by the faculty and students of the university.
The Career Development and Academic Support Office offers one on one counselling as well as group services to help students achieve academic success, as well as identify, clarify and achieve their academic and career objectives.
Services focus on providing students with the skills and tools needed to achieve these objectives, meet Bishop’s requirements and facilitate a successful integration to university and transition from university life to the workplace.
Students can also participate in various events and workshops such as Career Bootcamp and Career Day to help them be successful at school and in their transition to the workplace.

It's a small university where you have so many opportunities to grow and learn. The professors know you by your own name, they are devoted to their job. There are many experiential learning experiences available and there is a very strong family vibe
I appreciated the staff being helpful and there being multiple opportunities to make friends.
Bishop's University has all the criteria I always dreamed of: small class sizes, close community and many opportunities to put all the skills we learned about into practice.
