The hdpk opened in April 2010 as a private University of Applied Sciences and is approved by the Berlin Senate Department for Education, Science and Research.
The hdpk currently offers Bachelor programmes in Media Design, Media Management, Musical Production as well as Audio Design. As of autumn 2016, this range will be complemented by a variety of new study courses:
B.A. Creative Industries Management and B.Mus. Popular Music, as well as Master courses for Event Design & Management and Media Psychology.
With own music studios and audio cinemas the hdpk provides students with a unique learning environment. At the private, state-certified academy in Berlin 560 students from 30 countries are currently training for professions in the creative sector.

The housing market offers a wide range of situations, and the Berlin StudierendenWERK (office of student activities) can support in in finding rooms in special student Dormitories. No matter what you’re looking for, shared flat or your own four walls, accommodations in Berlin are affordable (compared to other metropolitan regions).Many of our students use Internet platforms for finding rooms; asking your fellow students may still be one of the best strategies.
The hdpk library is the academic lending library for students and staff at the SRH Hochschule der populären Künste (hdpk).
Its collection is orientated towards the reading requirements of courses offered by the hdpk and includes textbooks, specialist literature, sheet music, periodicals, magazines, CDs and DVDs.
The Student Parliament (StuPa) serves to provide a voice for hdpk students with regard to University affairs. It comprises not just course representatives from each semester of each course, but also all those who, alongside their studies, want to get involved with how the University is run – and make a contribution for the benefit of all.
