History
Jimei University enjoys a long history of over 90 years. Its origin can be traced back to Jimei Normal School founded by the famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Chen Jiageng (Tan Kah Kee) in 1918.
Education
With the strong educational strength and perfect conditions, Jimei University has an integration of 20 colleges and offers 56 postgraduate programs, 2 course master’s programs in 10 fields and 63 undergraduate programs in eight disciplines: Engineering, Agronomy, Economics, Administration, Pedagogy, Science, Literature, and Law.
Research
The University has a high-level teaching and research team, including eight professors who enjoy the State Council Special Subsidies, one awardee of the National Millions of Talents Project, one Distinguished Professor’s Award in Minjiang Scholar’s Program, six Distinguished or the Chair Professor’s Award.

University Ranking
Library services
Library has a total collection of more than 2.22 million volumes, with over 2,800 newspapers and magazines in both Chinese and foreign languages. The library also owns a Digital Information Retrieval Center.
Campus life
The University has an area of more than 2300 mu (1mu=666.7m2), with a floor space of over 1,020,000 square meters. In 2009 the constructions of the new campus was elected one of the “100 Major and Classical Construction Projects” over the 60 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
