History
Duke Kunshan is a world-class liberal arts university based in Kunshan, China, that offers a range of high quality, innovative academic programs for students from around the world. It was established in September 2013 as a U.S.-China partnership between Duke University and Wuhan University.
Education
Duke Kunshan University delivers academic programs designed to address society’s future needs through a curriculum based in the liberal arts tradition and a commitment to problem-based learning that challenges students to apply their knowledge during the learning process.
The university’s innovative academic programs inspire students to master academically rigorous course work, generate new ideas and develop creative solutions to the world’s challenges, preparing them not just for careers in specific fields, but to become globally sophisticated leaders and citizens.
Research
Academic research centers at Duke Kunshan University will provide space and resources for students, faculty and practitioners to undertake research projects reaching beyond the boundaries of typical academic departments and outcomes. Research centers will encourage interdisciplinary inquiry and engagement with findings intended to influence the current and future practice of business, medicine, health policy, and other fields.

Our team offers assistance to all Duke Kunshan students and alumni seeking to learn and use the essential skills needed to prepare for and develop successful professional careers.

The Office of Student Affairs promotes Duke Kunshan University’s primary mission to enable students from around the world to lead purposeful and productive lives in ways that are physically, mentally and emotionally liberating. We promote an inclusive and holistic community by challenging and supporting students with opportunities that foster self-awareness, cross-cultural competency and leadership skills while encouraging a sustained commitment to learning, integrity, and mutual respect.
Housing services
We guarantee room accommodations for all undergraduate students and we are able to accommodate most graduate students who apply for a room. Our options include high quality hotel-, suite-, and apartment-style accommodations, which the DKU Housing department keeps safe, clean, and maintained. Aside from the physical place to sleep, our close-knit communities give students a place to simply and truly enjoy life by having fun with friends as they develop a sense of belonging. Resident Assistants hold events which help students get to know each other and build a sense of belong while also serving in a duty rotation which keeps the building safe and secure.
Library services
The Library supports the Duke Kunshan University's mission to become a world class liberal arts and research university that addresses the changing needs of global higher education and global challenges. As a collaborative partner in every aspect of the university's academic endeavors, the Library is an interactive and innovative teaching and learning hub.
ICT services
You will need to register your computer and other devices (tablets, smartphones, etc.) to use the DKU campus wireless network. Wireless network services are available throughout the campus.
Medical services
The Campus Health Clinic is an important unit housed within the Duke Kunshan University Student Affairs team. The mission of Campus Health is to provide basic and first aid medical care, health education and workshops on preventive health to students, to finally improve students’ physical status and enrich their college life.
Campus life
Duke Kunshan University is a place for learning, living and growing, where students are encouraged to pursue knowledge inside the classroom and beyond.
Our modern campus in Kunshan, China, boasts high-tech teaching facilities and ample space for dining, recreation and relaxation. It’s also just a short distance from Suzhou and Shanghai, two of the country’s most exciting cities.
Sports facilities
FITNESS, HEALTH AND WELLNESS programs and services highlight the university’s commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle. Students, faculty and staff can attend various fitness classes, get personalized services, and join Duke Kunshan’s teams in local marathons, dragon boat races and bike rides organized throughout the year.

Student clubs and organizations are an exciting and important part of the Duke Kunshan University experience, not only to serve the diverse needs and interests of our students, connect everybody outside their classrooms, but also to provide leadership skills development and opportunities, as well as to empower students culturally, socially, and intellectually. DKU has over 60+ student clubs and organizations that are funded and supported by the Office of Student Affairs. All were started by and now are run completely by students abiding by the student clubs and University policies.
Duke Kunshan University is accredited by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People's Republic of China. Duke University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) in the United States to award baccalaureate, master's and doctorate degrees.
