History
Akdeniz University was founded in 1982 in Antalya, and incorporated a number of higher education institutions in the West Mediterranean region of Turkey.
In 1992 the units of Akdeniz University which were located in Isparta were transferred to Süleyman Demirel University, in 2006 the units in Burdur were transferred to Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.

Housing services
Akdeniz Student Dormitory is located within the main campus. It is run by the General Directorate of Higher Education Credit and Hostels Institution and has all the facilities required to meet the essential needs of our students
Library services
Akdeniz University Library located on 4,305 m^2 of indoor floor area, and with its 600 seat capacity brings together a wide range of vital information sources required for the scientific studies of library users, and makes it easily and freely available in order to give direct support to education and research.
Medical services
Health facilities in the university are provided by the Medico Social Centre through the use of polyclinics. When necessary patients are transferred to Akdeniz University Hospital, which is the foremost health institution in the region
Student Life
Campus life
There is a state dormitory within Akdeniz University Campus, as well as other dormitories in the institutions in which the Akdeniz University’s Associate Degree Programmes are taught at various locations in the Antalya region. Apart from these dormitories, there are also plenty of apart hotels, as well as private dormitories and apartments for rent, so the Antalya region has a wide range of facilities for accommodation for visiting students.
Sports facilities
Sport facilities include indoor swimming pool, indoor sports hall, fitness center, soccer fields, tennis courts, and more
Student clubs
Akdeniz University encourages its students to join the 109 different clubs available and to take part in their activities. The aim is to help them to become aware of the social contribution they can make, and the personal development that will follow such as improving their social interaction, becoming individuals who will continue to research, investigate and explore, as well as being productive in finding solutions and sharing them with others

I have great university that improves and supports me on my works. I think the only problem was equipment to support students for their own amateur movies but even if they struggled to find equipments teachers were ready to support students with their own equipments. Also during our education life we’re more responsible for theoretical knowledge. That made us more...

there is good university but in my major of study we need more equipment to know how work with them but our university cannot afford it, Im really love my major so I work for it I go to every where I can to improve my self . I have great ideas for making movies but living here as a student is very expensive so I can't spent money to make my dreams come true.
