History
Harvey Mudd College, the nation’s top liberal arts college of engineering, science and mathematics, was chartered in December 1955.
Education
Mudd offers nine engineering, science and mathematics-based majors, all grounded in a solid core curriculum that includes a healthy dose of humanities and social science courses. Why? Because we know that you don’t have to sacrifice your interest in music or art (or anything else) to be good scientists.
Research
Harvey Mudd faculty conduct cutting-edge research spanning biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics and interdisciplinary fields such as computational biology and bioengineering.
Students work alongside faculty as colleagues, investigating open-ended questions, producing world-class research, presenting findings at national conferences and co-publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals. Faculty are regularly awarded prestigious research grants from the NSF and other foundations to advance scientific knowledge.

Housing services
Harvey Mudd College is a residential campus where students learn and collaborate together inside and outside of the classroom. Ninety-nine percent of students live on campus all four years, creating an energetic, supportive community.
The Office of Residential Life provides programs and services that support the academic mission of the College and the Standards of Conduct within the HMC Honor Code. Residential Life strives to foster a diverse and collaborative residential environment where community members share in intellectual exchange, broaden their personal understanding of themselves, and contribute responsibly to the development of their community.
Campus life
Visiting the Harvey Mudd College campus is the best way to learn more about our community. There’s plenty to see and do on campus and around the region. While visiting, learn more about the other Claremont Colleges, and explore the City of Claremont as well as the historic Claremont Village.
At the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, the City of Claremont is best known for its tree-lined streets, historic buildings and The Claremont Colleges—nationally and internationally renowned for their academic excellence.
Sports facilities
Harvey Mudd College, Claremont McKenna College and Scripps College are associated in a joint program of intercollegiate athletics, intramural and recreational activities, physical education and club sports known as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Athletics.

Harvey Mudd has just about every kind of club you can think of, sponsored by the Associated Students of Harvey Mudd College (ASHMC), many of which have a SHMC (pronounced “shmick”) on the end, NerfSHMC and GameSHMC for example.
