The Akademia Lekarska in Gda´nsk was founded on October 8th, 1945. Its history is related to the centuries-old tradition of medical practice of surgeons associated in the Surgeons Guild (active since 1454), as well as teaching and medical and scientific research, particularly in Gda´nskie Gimnazjum Akademickie (Atheneum Gedanese) established in 1558.
MUG offers various courses (Premedical Course, English Language Course, Polish Language Course), Medicine Doctor Programme, Nursing Programme, Dietetics Programme and the Ph.D. Programmes, which are taught fully in English.
The Medical University of Gda´nsk (MUG) focuses on research, which is the key activity of our institution. Innovative research gives us an excellent base for modern teaching.
Scientifical excellence of MUG was confirmed by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education in the year 2012 by considering the Faculty of Pharmacy with Subfaculty of Laboratory Medicine the Leading National Research Centre (KNOW) in the pharmaceutical sciences.
