History
1950 - the Medical Academy was established. It comprised the Faculty of Medicine with the Dentistry Division and the Faculty of Pharmacy. In March 1950 the name of institution was changed into Medical University of Warsaw.
Education
The Medical University of Warsaw provides general and specialty training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students learn at our six clinical teaching hospitals who provide general and tertiary medical care to patients. Our students and staff also conduct scientific and clinical research at these hospitals as well as are involved in a number of clinical academic departments located in other hospitals in Warsaw.
MUW offers 19 degree programs including 3 full-time degree programs in English: Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy.
Research
The University has scientific research cooperation with many universities and research institutions in Europe, especially Germany, France, Sweden, Netherlands, Austria and Great Britain. At present this cooperation is also being developed with other foreign partners from Europe, USA and Asia – China, India, Malaysia and Japan.

Studying Abroad
Studying in Poland specific in the Medical University of Warsaw has been a unique experience so to say. From having to adapt quickly and struggling to learn Polish as a new language to stumbling around trying to understand instructions has been a whirlwind of an experience. But beside that, it’s been an exciting journey learning medicine with my peers, pouring my energy and time into learning the material. For the fact, that I am able to get access to good resources, knowledgeable professors and a good institution is what makes me glad that I had chosen this university.
practical training
The Medical University of Warsaw exceeded my expectations in terms of the quality of education and practical training. The curriculum is demanding, with a strong emphasis on clinical skills from the first year. The lecturers are experts in their fields, and the teaching hospitals provide valuable practical experience. The university offers support for international students with visa and accommodation issues. Warsaw itself is full of life and history, offering many attractions outside of class. Learning basic Polish is definitely useful, especially during clinical placements. This is a great choice for those looking for a comprehensive medical education in Europe.
academic intensity
As a third-year medical student at the Medical University of Warsaw, I�ve experienced firsthand both the academic intensity and the opportunities for hands-on learning. The curriculum is demanding, but it�s structured in a way that builds both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. In the second year, we started clinical classes, which have been invaluable in understanding real-life medical cases. The professors, though strict, are genuinely invested in our success, and they challenge us to think critically. The facilities, particularly the simulation center, are well-equipped, allowing us to practice procedures in a controlled environment before heading to clinical rotations. Warsaw is an affordable city for students, which helps with the workload. However, the bureaucracy at the university can be frustrating, especially when dealing with administrative tasks like schedule changes. The international environment here is a major plus, exposing us to diverse medical approaches. It�s tough, but the sense of achievement makes it worthwhile.

Housing services
The university provides fully furnished and equipped double rooms with kitchen and bathroom in the university residence - Dom Studenta BIS 2, ul. Karolkowa 84. However, the number of rooms for exchange students in the student house is limited. The university can assist in searching for private accommodation in Warsaw in case of problems with getting a room in the student residence.
Library services
Our University has its own library situated near the Anatomy building which contains around 450,000 volumes including scientific journals, CDs and video-cassettes.
Medical services
Our hospitals are outfitted with modern diagnostic and treatment equipment including but not limited to: CAT scans, MRI, PET, and DSAs. The hospitals also have ultrasound equipment, diagnostic laboratories and state-of-the-art equipment for radiation therapy and surgery.
Campus life
Recent years are characterized by a dynamic development of the Medical University of Warsaw (MUW), which is now the largest medical school in Poland. On May 29th, 2000, a Senate resolution decided on the formation of a new Faculty, the Faculty of Health Sciences with three Divisions – Nursing, Midwifery and Nutrition. In 2002, the Faculty of Postgraduate Education was established.

The University offers a wide range of various activities – sports groups, dance groups, athletic and fitness facilities, as well as a swimming pool.
