History
The University of Malawi - the mother university in Malawi - was founded in 1964. Teaching started on 29th September 1965 at the newly established campus which used to be an Asian Secondary School in Blantyre. Only 90 students were enrolled.

I enjoyed every moment and every lesson for UNIMA
I liked both teaching of theories and practical knowledge through industry attachments. And the use of digital learning tool such as Google classroom, Google meet among other things. The only thing that can be improved is the improved access to speed internet connection so that online classes should be done smoothly
Studying at UNIMA
During my time at the university, I was able to learn a great deal from lecturers with a wide range of experience and who were also highly qualified. We had access to various resources; however, there were times when said resources would be lacking. This came in the form of desk space in classrooms and even in the library sometimes. Overall, the levels of teaching are great, and that can be seen with the quality of students who graduate from this institution.

Sports facilities
As a way of relaxing from the rigors of academic life, University of Malawi students are encouraged to engage in various forms of extracurricular activity. This is deemed a way of promoting student mental and physical wellness. In particular, students are encouraged to participate in various sporting activities at the college, managed by the Sports Directorate, under the Office of the Dean of Students.
