Xiamen University of Technology

Founded in 1981, at around the same time as the Xiamen Special Economic Zone, it was originally known as Lujiang Industrial University. The past three decades has witnessed our fast growth. A college for first-line professionals for Xiamen Special Economic Zone in its first years, XMUT is today a provincial first-tier university with global ambitions and reach.

Our mission is to help students develop and apply knowledge, skills and abilities for real world success through competency-based and industry-informed learning and teaching. Altogether, XMUT offers 56 undergraduate and graduate programs so designed to a student body of 21,000, including international students from more than 10 countries.

XMUT’S research and development is constantly accelerating. We have been at the top of Fujian Province’s rankings for the number and funding of research projects since 2007.

A university of applied science and technology, XMUT is devoted to applied research through our established research centers, a number of which were built in joint efforts with renowned companies such as KingLong Motor Group and ABB(China) as well as prestigious universities such as Newcastle University, Nagoya University(Japan) and University of Regina. We have research funding at both national and international level, including two joint research projects funded by China’s State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA).
