HUAS covers an area of 1791 mu and boasts a building area of 478 thousand square meters. Its library houses 1.543 million paper books and 640 thousand digital books. HUAS has a teaching faculty of 1205 members, including 93 professors, 331 associate professors, 114 doctors, 3 members of the Teaching Guidance Committee of Education Ministry, 3 experts enjoying State Council Special Allowance, 1 winner of Zeng Xianzi Education Fund Award, 1 winner of Education Ministry’s New Century Excellent Talents Supporting Plan, 1 candidate of Transportation Ministry’s New Century Ten-Hundred-Thousand Talents Project and 1 candidate of National Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project. HUAS comprises 21 colleges and departments offering 51 specialties covering such disciplines as literature, science, engineering, economics, management, law, agriculture, history, education and art. HUAS has a full-time student population of over 23,000 from 31 provinces and municipalities around China. In 2004, HUAS began to enroll international students. Up to now, it has established friendly relationship of exchanges and cooperation with more than 20 universities in more than ten countries such as U.S.A., UK, Russia, Canada, South Korea, Japan and so on.
HUAS has made great achievements in teaching and scientific research. Now it boasts 4 state-level characteristic majors, 6 province-level characteristic majors, 1 state-level quality course, 14 province-level quality courses, 6 province-level key construction disciplines, 1 state-level teaching group, 3 province-level teaching groups, 1 state-level undergraduate cultural and quality education base, 1 state-level undergraduate practice education base, 2 province-level production-university-research demonstration bases, 5 province-level social science research bases, 1 province-level university philosophy, humanities, and social science research base, 3 province-level university-enterprise cooperation talents training demonstration bases, 1 province-level co-innovation center, 1 aquaculture academician work station, 3 province-level undergraduate innovation training centers, 2 province-level basic course demonstration labs, 3 province-level key labs, 1 national Linux technology training center and 1 national college English teaching reform pilot base. In the past years, the teachers of HUAS has finished more than 40 state-level and 300 province-level scientific research projects, published more than 4000 articles and obtained more than 60 patents.
