The history of CSUFT, one of whose predecessors was established in 1958, Hunan Forestry College, dates back to 1917, the establishment of Ke Qiang College. The other predecessor is the Department of Forestry of Central South Agricultural College, which dates back to 1917, the establishment of Guangdong Public Agricultural College.
Currently the university consists of 24 colleges and departments: College of Forestry, College of Life Science and Technology, College of Science, College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, College of Logistics, College of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, College of Computer and Information Engineering, College of Food Science and Engineering, College of Landscape Architecture, College of Furniture and Art Design, College of Business, College of Economics, College of Politics and Law, College of Foreign Languages, College of Tourism (College of Huatian Tourism and Hospitality Management), College of Physical Culture.College of Music, Department of Political Theory Teaching, International College, College of Adult Education, New College.

My university is very good at education and i like the courses very much but now all my courses are in the hospital due to im in my 4th year so im having courses in the hospital like pediatric and obstetrics, and i really like to continue my studies in your university because i think i can learn more and educate better

The Student Union is the largest student organization on campus, running independently under the instruction of the university Youth League committee, abiding by relevant laws and regulations. The Student Union serves for the benefits and improvement of students, acts as a bridge and bond between students and university authority. Initiating “self-education, self-administration, self-service and self-perfection”, the Student Union organizes various academic, cultural, sport activities as well as field trips according to students’ need, which helps students develop not merely academically but comprehensively. Our Student Union is a member of All-China Students Federation and holds deputy presidency of Hunan Students Federation.
The 66 building in the 7248 dormitories in school accommodate more than 315,00 students of the school. The school has set up logistics management office to carry out unified management of the water and electricity services, cleaning, repair services in student Residence.
The overseas, Hong Kong and Macao students admitted in the students Residence. The dormitory is equipped with separate toilet, desk, air conditioning, water heater, TV, telephone, refrigerator, network facilities and so on. The overseas student department execute the daily affairs management of the abroad, Hong Kong and Macao.
The university now has a total value of permanent assets 2,155 billion RMB Yuan, a total value of equipment 249 million RMB Yuan and a total collection of library 2.77 million volumes. Academic publications include Academic Journal of CSUFT (Natural Science edition and Social Science edition), Non-timber Research, Furniture and Interior Design, Forestry Tourism etc.
The university hospital is examined and approved by Insurance Bureau Labor of Changsha and Social Security Bureau as the first diagnosis. The medical center provides all students, faculty and their families with medical, health, health education, student health insurance and other services.
CSUFT has 1 State-level field observation station, 1 State-level engineering lab (for southern forestry ecological science application), 1 State-level teaching & experiment center (forest plants teaching & experiment center), 1 key and open lab under the State Forestry Bureau, 1 provincial- level industrial furniture design center, 3 provincial key labs, 2 provincial-level teaching & experiment centers. The two campuses cover an area of 149 hectareswith 1,012,600 square meters of building space. The university now has a total value of permanent assets 2,155 billion RMB Yuan, a total value of equipment 249 million RMB Yuan and a total collection of library 2.77 million volumes.
We have a modernized, multi-functional gymnasium and two standardized athletic fields. The gymnasium covers 15,000 square meters, serves for sport events such as basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, gymnastics and table tennis, as well as musicals, dramas, acrobatics, and assemblies. It has been chosen as the stadium for the 24th Asian Cup Table Tennis Competition, 2011 China Badminton Club Super League, and the 2010-2011 China College Volleyball Competition.
Student clubs are voluntarily organized by students sharing interests and hobbies, aiming to hone both academic and practical skills, and to enrich campus culture. Students clubs continue and complement classroom learning, enhance students’ comprehensive abilities, help develop personalities, intensify friendship, and cultivate a sense of ownership. Up to now, we have more than 100 student clubs with more than 8,000 members. We have a Student Club Federation, in charge of the management and construction of clubs. We have an annual campus Student Club Month, participated by more than 20,000 students. Some of the clubs hold successful events and is influential in the society.
