History
In 2018, YCU became the first university within the metropolitan area to have an undergraduate school specializing in the field of data science, and from 2019, YCU’s International School of Arts and Sciences was divided into the School of International Liberal Arts, School of Economics and Business Administration and School of Science.
Education
YCU's 5 undergraduate schools and 6 graduate schools, coupled with the low student-faculty ratio ensures that all our students get a quality education in a comfortable environment.
Research
We pride ourselves on research that contributes to state-of-the-art technology through specialization and a global outlook. Aiming to contribute to the advancement of science and the global community, we provide support for an array of global standard research programs.
Career
The Career Support Center provides a variety of career and job-hunting support to students - both local and international; from admission to graduation - to help our students achieve their career goals. In order to do that, the Career Support Center provides ample resources, programs, and services at every stage of the career planning proces; from providing career design lectures, to resume workshops and organising professional networking events.

Student services
The International Affairs Office warmly welcomes you to YCU's international community of more than 100 international students, and scholars representing over 100 countries. We invite you to utilize the office and this website as a resource for information and appropriate referral and wish you a productive and enjoyable stay here at YCU.
ICT services
RSS (Rich Site Summary, or Really Simple Syndication, or RDF Site Summary) is an XML-based format for structuring and describing meta-data such as headlines or a summary of a website.
RSS is used to release and provide updated information on a website to users. Software such as an RSS reader allows users to find the latest information on a website without having to visit that site directly.
Medical services
There is always a nurse at the Healthcare Center who can administer first-aid treatment for open wounds or conduct general medical examinations and consultations. Should you wish to see a doctor at a medical institution, you will need your health insurance card, so make sure to always have it on you.
Campus life
Kanazawa-hakkei (Hakkei) campus is YCU's main campus, which houses the university's trademark clock tower and ginkgo tree-lined main streets. Most of our undergraduate and graduate schools are based here, as is YCU's central administration. Our Hakkei campus also houses a variety of campus clubs and societies, as well as facilities including a training gym and pool that students can use absolutely free of charge.
Sports facilities
From baseball to hockey, cheerleading to rugby, Yokohama City University offers a range of sports and activities that feature healthy competition in a more casual environment. Whether you want to try something new or are dedicated to your chosen sport, there are always lots of opportunities to get involved. We hope you enjoy being part of sport at YCU.
Student clubs
Getting involved with societies is one of the best things about being a student - it can hands down give you some of the best experiences of your university life. No matter what your interests - sports, singing, helping others, learning - there's a society for you somewhere in YCU.
The range of clubs and circles reflects our diverse student population, sporting facilities and breadth of subjects. Club activities are also a great way to meet like-minded individuals - some of whom may be your friends for life, long after you leave university! YCU's alumni are very actively involved in the clubs they were once a part of - participating in casual tournaments or attending club reunions.
