The Universiade Village is a residential zone which was constructed in Kazan to house athletes and officials during the 27th Summer Universiade 2013.
Nowdays the Village serves as a student campus for Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University and Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism. The complex may house 14,500 people. It is unique and the largest in Russia.
The Universiade Village is within walking distance from the Prospekt Pobedy metro station. Bus number 47 and trolleybus number 8 are running in this city district.
KFU students may use the services and resources of the Nikolai Lobachevsky Scientific Library. The library has accumulated over five million volumes, including 150 thousand old and rare units.
By the size of its funds, it rates among top ten Russian libraries and ranks third among Russian university libraries.
Kazan Federal University has a wide computer network with access to the internet. All the Faculties of the University have their own local networks. Every student/staff member may receive their own electronic and network address at Dean's office of the corresponding Institute.
Students may receive help in obtaining an optional health insurance in the City Student Health Center at Universiade Village.
The student health services are organized free of charge given that the student has a medical insurance valid in Russia.
KFU students can live on or off campus. The university offers a variety of living facilities and comfortable apartments, including Universiade - 2013 Village dormitories with the capacity of 12000 living places.
A medical center, drugstore, sports equipment rent station, copy center, laundry, beauty salon, cafeteria and other facilities are available here. Because space is limited, the application is required.
KFU students practice different types of physical activities at 10 sports halls of the UNIX Center and the recently built 2013 World University Games sporting center Bustan. In the Universiade Village a swimming pool, ice rink, and multi-purpose sports complex are at students' use.
Students may choose from 24 kinds of sports, including aerobics, basketball, volleyball, martial arts, track and field athletics, table tennis, rock-climbing, swimming, football etc.
