History
In 1938, in pre-state Israel, the pioneering teacher and environmentalist Yehoshua Margolin envisioned establishing a northern branch of the Kibbutz Seminar for Teaching, on a rural campus close to hundreds of kibbutzim. The site he chose was Tivon in the Lower Galilee, northeast of Haifa, on a majestic hilltop covered with pine trees that overlooks the Carmel mountain range.

Oranim College of Education is the largest and leading academic college of education in the North of Israel, catering to thousands of students enrolled in bachelor's and master's degree programs in education, teaching certification courses, and advanced career training.
Research
The Authority supports Oranim faculty in pursuing their scholarship and publishing their research, as part of a continuum of personal-professional advancement. It also conducts research on educational issues for other institutions and educational frameworks. It was established in order to promote academic advancement and to conduct ongoing research in a range of disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences, and education.

The college is located 20 minutes east of Haifa and is named after the pine trees that grow on the premises.
